Memorial Apprenticeship Trust ran:
'A Week in the Woods
In Hampshire'
At the:
The Sustainability Centre,

The training days were run by members of Hampshire coppice craftsman's group, including Darren Hammerton (coppicing), Matt Melton (gate hurdles), Phil Allen (green wood products), Mark Howard (Hurdle making) & Simon Farnden (hedge laying)
The event was fully booked with about 40 people taking part from all parts of the country. the aim of the event was to introduce people to copping and potentially find an apprentice to join a local coppice craftsman.
The feed back from the groups was good and all seamed to enjoy the time.
Most the the week was spent at the Sustainability Centre, with two days out on site, one coppiceing in a local woodland and the other hedlaying on a farm at Froxfield.
On the the final night a barbaque was orgainised for the students, tutors and some of the other people that had made it possible such as the woodland owner, much fun was had by all and the fire kept off the cold along with beer supplied by a local brewery.
